MAC MOAA -- 60 Years of Achivement
MAC MOAA Drives Renaming War Gaming Center
Air University Renames War Gaming Center in Honor of General Charles "Chick" Cleveland!!
Former Air University Commander, Korean War Ace and a proud member of the Montgomery Area Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, Lieutenant General Charles J. "Chick" Cleveland, passed away last year at the age of 93. The MAC MOAA Board believed our chapter should find some way to honor General Cleveland. Our plan was to create and pay for a commemorative plaque and have it on or near the F-86 static display on Maxwell. Our chapter historian, Captain George Cully, took the lead and worked with base officials. Air University officials enthusiastically agreed with our idea but, as General Cleveland was the Air University commander when the Wargamming Center was concieved and constructed, they proposed renaming the Wargaming Center in Genreal Cleveland's honor and mounting our memorial plaque on that building
AIr University hosted a ceremony on May 25, 2023 oficially renaming the Center. MAC MOAA's plaque and potrait were unvailed and Lt Col Peter Brambir, a former two time President of our local Chapter, was asked to make a few remarks.
Our Chapter was honored to be a part of this salute to General Cleveland.
